Corporate actions are events like stock splits, dividends, mergers and acquisitions, rights issues and spin-offs which can impact shareholders and company’s share price. They need to be approved by the company’s board of directors and authorized by its shareholders, and can be mandatory, mandatory with options, or voluntary. The mandatory ones will affect all shareholders while the mandatory with options offer an option to elect on an aspect of the event. The voluntary ones are the tender offers and certain takeovers.
